Green Route
Santa Susanna, between the sea and the mountains and on the edge of the Montnegre- Corredor Nature Park, gives us an unforgettable route: the ‘Ruta Verda’ (green route). The Tourist Train or ‘Cuc’ takes you from the hotel area on the seafront, passing through the centre of the town, to the beginning of the Montnegre-Corredor park and the corners it hides.
On route, you will enjoy the pretty Font del Boter, a natural leisure space that invites you to take a stroll in summer afternoons, in which is the stage to the typical woods of the area: the Holm oaks. From the Font del Boter fountain cool water springs forth from an ancient mine.
The scenery on the Turó de la Guàrdia is worth a stop on the way. The peak of the hill, at 241 metres, is the highest in Santa Susanna. As well as the magnificent panoramic view we are offered, the place allows us to contemplate a large variety of animal and plant species.
The Ruta Verda also invites us to discover remains of great cultural interest, such as: the Chapel of Sant Isidre -the stage for the Sant Isidre gathering, the Romanic Bridge and Can Jordà -with its aqueduct. If you like trekking, you can get to the Church of Sant Pere de Riu, which maintains its original Romanic structure from the 11th century.
When you reach the mountain area where the tourist train leaves you, you can choose the activity you prefer: enjoy the fantastic scenery on foot or go on a horse ride from the Ranxo Mestres, enjoy new adventures related to the nature in the adventure park of Activ Natura or rent a bicycle to do routes by mountain-bike, from the Centre BTT Santa Susanna-Montnegre.
