The Mayor is the President of the Corporation and the maximum representative of the Town Hall, running the municipal government and administration. He calls and presides over the Plenary Sessions of the Government Commission and is responsible for carrying out and ensuring compliance with the municipal agreements.

Moreover, he runs, inspects and develops the municipal services and works. He is responsible for the development of economic management in accordance with the approved municipal budget. He performs the senior management of all the personnel of the Corporation and the Local Police, approves the offer of public occupation and the bases for the personnel selection tests.

He is also enabled to contract, grant concessions, approve work and service projects, acquire goods and rights, grant licences and approve instruments for improving planning within the limits attributed to him by the Local Regulations. In the event of public catastrophe or misfortune, he may personally take all necessary and suitable measures under his own responsibility, reporting them immediately to the Plenum.
