- Shakespeare Festival
The Santa Susanna Shakespeare Festival was first held in 2003 as the first initiative of this kind in the Spanish state. This is a thematic festival that is intended to bring the figure of William Shakespeare to the public and give a panoramic view of his work. It covers all genres (dance, opera, large and small theatre, music, circus and theatre for the youngest). This event has found an ideal place in Santa Susanna, and more specifically at Can Ratés Country House, an emblematic place from the 16th century where Shakespeare’s words sound with particular intensity. This is an area that offers two possible stages: one in front of the façade of the house (with a capacity for 600 spectators) and another in the gardens (prepared for 250 spectators). The house also has areas for rehearsals, talks and offices and dressing rooms.
